Notes: Sequel to Never Enough. Second in this little series.
Disclaimer: Just two poor college girls havin' some fun.
As Jed entered the small church, the same one his middle child was about to
get married in
the same wedding he hadn't been invited to, he felt
completely unnerved. The ceremony had already begun. Leo was standing up by
the alter, saying that he gives Jennifer Erin Bartlet to Toby Jacob Ziegler.
Hoping to not be noticed by anyone, Jed sat in the very back. It had indeed
been a good two years since his divorce with Abbey was finalized
He hadn't
spoken with any of his family members since then. The only reason he even
found out about the wedding, was because of the simple fact that Toby still
worked for Jed, for reasons passing understanding.
As the ceremony began to wrap up, Jed had meant to leave, but for some
reason, his emotions got the best of him, and he could not budge from that
seat. Lovingly, Jed gazed up at his daughter, as she kissed the love of her
life. The man she just promised to spend an eternity with.
Now the happily married couple was walking down the isle, gazing
passionately, tenderly, attentively, not to mention faithfully into each
other's eyes as they got very close to the rear of the church
Something caught Jenn's eye
Someone caught Jenn's eye
Coming to a screaching hault, Jenn's eyes became fixated on her father
As
did everyone else in the little Catholic Church.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Her voice was stone cold.
Jed looked up at his daughter, but didn't answer. What was he supposed to
say in a moment like this?
"Get the f***
" Jennifer began, but was cut-off.
"Jennifer Erin Bartlet! Watch your mouth. He is still your father." Abbey
moved down the isle towards the newly wed couple standing at a dead pan right
next to Jed.
"Get out of this church, now!" Jennifer said, trying to appease her mother,
yet desperately wanting to get rid of her father.
Jennifer was standing right up on her father, but he had yet to move.
Approximately two hundred eyes were on him right now, watching his daughter
yell at him. Rip into him. Accompanying those two hundred eyes, were one
hundred dropped mouths.
Jed felt his face turn bright red. He was the President of the United
States
He should be able to withstand two hundred eyes. Right?
Not under these circumstances.
Not when you are caught attending a social function of one of your
daughter's, in which you have been banned from any further acknowledgment.
Very rationally, Jed finally stood up. Pausing, as he looked at his family
one last time, he moved to leave the church, with no further word.
"Grandpa!" A child's voice cried out just as he made it to the doorway.
