Part 2 is written completely in 3rd person and Danny's point of view.

Danny was sitting in the waiting room pacing back and forth, in his mind going
over the several past hour's events. Leo had called minutes after he had gotten
the call for the hospital. Leo had explained that the man who called was an SA,
one of the doctors treating C.J., Mallory, and Joey. He told him to take care of
whatever the families may need.

C.J.'s mother had said something about calling Danny, knowing his and C.J.'s
relationship, and the SA offered to call for her saving her the trouble. The SA got
the message completely wrong.

Johns Hopkins in Baltimore had already notified all three families. Joey's and
Mallory's families had came to Johns Hopkins where the girls first were, they
had called when they had called C.J.'s family the doctors had already decided to
transport the girls to Presbyterian Hospital which was more equipped to handle
their injuries. So C.J.'s family flew straight to Pittsburgh, and Joey's and Mallory's
families flew from Baltimore to Pittsburgh.

C.J.'s mother had told the SA to tell Danny about all the injuries, the SA assumed
she meant all the girls' injuries, not just C.J.'s. As for how they got Danny's
phone number C.J.'s mother found it in C.J.'s purse, that was found near the
crash site, not the hospital as Danny was lead to believe.

After getting off the phone with Leo he made arrangements to be on the next
plane from DC to Pittsburgh. He got to Pittsburgh seven hours after the
accident and three hours after he heard about the accident. He looked around
the waiting room and saw the people he worked with every day, Leo, Josh, and
Sam were all there. As well as the C.J.'s Mallory's and Joey's families.

It was Saturday morning and the President was expected to come later to night
being tomorrow was Sunday. When the President called he said he was coming
to be with his family as he now referred to the Senior Staff and of course, his
goddaughter Mallory. No if, ands, or buts. The three people in those hospital
beds had always been there for him: Joey, who was new to his "family" had
become significant in keeping the White House running and had brought a
whiff of fresh air right into the White House; Mallory, his goddaughter, had
really been like a fourth daughter to him, she had always been over at his house
playing with his girls; then of course, C.J. was one of the five people who
without he could had never been elected, dodging the bullets of the press
somehow she always managed to keep the Administration on top.

Danny continued to think about everything that had happened and what
everyone had said. Then he thought about all of the time he had spent with C.J.
over the past three years. How they had continuously flirted on the campaign.
When he saw her at the State Dinner, and how amazing she looked it that dress.
He remembered all the times she pushed him away, the first kiss they shared,
and what it felt like to hold her in his arms; which was all he wanted to do now.
He smiled at all of the smart and sarcastic comments she had made. Then he
thought about how beautiful she was. The way her eyes glowed, how poised
she was, and the way she was so full of life. She was so independent, and
strong-willed, with the best sense of humor. And how she was so calm in
situations when most people panic.

There were tears in the corners of Danny's eyes and his hands were trembling.
He couldn't imagine his life with out her, not now not ever. He felt an arm on his
shoulder and turned to see C.J.'s mom. "Danny? C.J. was moved to ICU. She's
stabilized for now. You can go see her if you like, but I'll tell you now it looks
bad." As C.J.'s mom spoke it didn't seem real. He nodded and she lead him to
ICU.
