Torn
by: Rhiannon

Abbey tucked Stevie into her bed tightly, "Sweet dreams, angel."

"Goodnight, Abbey." Stevie replied, snuggling down further into the covers.
"Love you..."

Abbey kissed her forehead gently, "Love you too." Abbey stood at Stevie's bed
for a moment longer, and then turned and walked out of the room. She shut the
door softly and looked down the hallway to her own bedroom.

With a sigh, she began to walk towards it. When she walked in, she found her
husband, already dressed for bed, laying on a pallet on the floor.

His eyes were closed, but she knew he wasn't asleep.

Abbey shook her head and walked into the bathroom. She changed into her
pajamas quickly and walked back out.

Jed was still laying on his pallet with his eyes closed.

Abbey turned off the light and grabbed a pillow from the bed. Without a
sound, she crept over to where Jed was laying. Abbey set the pillow down
beside Jed's and then slipped in between the covers of her husband's make
shift bed.

Jed couldn't resist a smile when he felt his wife's arms find their place
around his waist. He waited a moment later and then enveloped her in his
strong arms, "I'm sorry."

Abbey shook her head, "No ... you didn't do anything wrong. You were right.
Having that damn press conference is the only way to put an end to this
crap... I'm sorry I yelled at you. You didn't have to make your bed on the
floor."

"I took the necessary precautions just in case." Jed replied. He felt her
smile against him. "We're going to hurt like hell in the morning if we sleep
on the floor."

"Yeah." Abbey agreed.

"Yeah..." Jed waited a moment longer. "Wanna get up?"

"No."

"Me neither." Jed replied. "I'll massage your back if you'll massage mine
tomorrow..."

"I've got a better idea," Abbey responded. "And it involves you, me, a bath,
and lots of hot water."

"I like the way you think," Jed replied.

"Damned if I don't feel that way myself," Abbey said, as Jed bent his head
down and met hers for a kiss.
