"What happened in here?" Jed stepped into Leo's office after hearing
Margaret's voice carrying into his office.
Leo stopped what he was doing and turned around to give his friend a
dangerous look, and then shifted his eyes to Ariel and Brennan before
returning his gaze to Margaret.
"Uh-oh," Jed said. "What'd they do this time?"
"It was an accident," Ariel protested, looking up at Jed. "Honest!"
"I'm sure it was," Jed replied. "What was an accident?"
"My eye," Margaret spoke up.
"What about your eye?" Jed moved closer to her and Leo, finally realized the
bag of ice held up to her right eye. "Ouch!"
"It's nothing big, Mr. President."
"I would just like to inform you, Jed," Jason spoke up. "That I had
absolutely nothing to do with this.
"Neither did I," Brennan added.
"Yes you did, Rodent. You're the one that missed the baseball," Ariel said.
"You're the one that couldn't throw it straight in the first place," Brennan
shot back.
Jed held a hand up to the two of them, "Do I have to call your mother in
here? Because you know I will."
"No, sir."
"No."
"No what?"
"No, sir."
"Thank you," Jed turned from the duo back to Leo and Margaret. "Margaret,
are you going to be okay?"
"It's really no big deal, Mr. President."
"You'll probably have a nice big shiner," Jed said.
"Yeah," Leo added.
Margaret smiled weakly, "It's really okay."
"If you insist," Jed replied.
"Sir," Leo said to Jed. "If you do not mind, could you get those monsters out
of here?"
Jed smiled, "Sure," he turned and gave Ariel and Brennan a look. Each of
them immediately stood and moved for the door. Jed called out behind him,
"You too, Jason. Come on."
"Yes, sir," he followed his brother and sister back into the Oval Office...
What a summer vacation this was turning out to be.
