Schemes
By Rhiannon and AJ

Summary: It's summer vacation, and the trio is looking for something to do...
Notes: This was inspired by a comment to a previous story. See, we really do
pay attention to what you guys say.

"Jed," Ariel said as she tossed a baseball around in her hands. "I'm bored.
I have nothing to do."

"Crap, me too," Brennan piped up as he watched his sister toss the ball back
and forth from one hand to the other.

"It pains me to say this, but I have to agree with them. I'm bored," Jason
sighed.

Jed looked up from the mountain of paperwork in which he was trying to work
his way through, and stared at them for a moment. "Why don't you kids go see
what Leo's up to? Hmm? Just... don't do anything to land him in jail.
Okay?"

"Jed," Ariel said.

"We're hurt," Jason added.

"By what you have just accused us of," Brennan finished.

Jed rolled his eyes, "Oh please."

"Okay," Ariel stood. "It's not like we're doing anything in here, might as
well go for such a long walk all the way into Leo's office."

"I suppose we could do something like that."

"Bye Dad," Brennan waved to Jed just as the three of them disappeared behind
the door that connects his office with that of his Chief of Staff and best
friend.

"Bye," Jed smiled, then turned back to the paperwork in front of him.
Throwing his hands up in the air, he sighed and then reached for the phone,
calling Abbey. "Hey, Sweet knees, what are you up to?"

"Five feet, six inches," Abbey reported with a smirk on her face.

"Yeah, only with the four inch heels on."

"Jed, did you call me to make fun of me? Or did you have a purpose for
calling me?"

"No, no purpose. The trio just left here to go bug Leo. And I am afraid of
this stack of papers sitting in front of me, so I decided-"

"To call me so that you can have some sort of excuse when Mrs. Landingham
yells at you for not having done what you were supposed to be doing?"

"Basically, yeah," Jed smiled.

"You're impossible." Abbey laughed.

"And you love me for it, and would never ever have it any other way."

"Yeah... unfortunately..." Abbey grinned.

"Hey!"

"Get back to work, Jed."

"Yes, ma'am," Jed said into the phone. "Love you."

"Love you too," Abbey replied before hanging the phone up.
