No Place That Far

"Margaret, what happened?" Abbey pressed.
"Well ... they wanted to go to the zoo, and so Leo took them... And, well... when
they were walking around the birds... um... apparently... Ariel brought with her
one of those... those... uh... noise maker things... and she honked it. This
scared Brennan into throwing his hand full of rocks that he just bought into
the cage... One of the birds has a broken wing... two of them flew away when the
zoo keeper entered... and um... they... uh... Leo was arrested..."
Abbey groaned in to the phone, "Where are they?"
"The secret service brought them back to the White House, ma'am. Mrs.
Landingham and I are watching them at the moment."
"Okay, thank you Margaret." Abbey quickly hung the phone up and began to pace
all over the hotel room.
"Abbey...?"
"Arrested. He was arrested. They got him arrested."
"Who was arrested?"
"Leo," Abbey said in a clearly pissed off tone.
"What?"
"Ariel brought that damn noise maker you bought her to the zoo, and when she
honked it Brennan threw some rocks at the birds. Two flew away and one has a
broken wing."
"You're joking... right?" Jed said with an incredulous tone.
"Do I look like I'm joking?!"
"Abbey," Jed sighed, then paused. "Okay... okay... so..." Jed paused again, and
watched Abbey. "Abbey, what are you doing?"
"I'm packing our things up, Jed."
"Why?"
"Because we are leaving here, to go back there as soon as possible."
"Why?"
"Jed!" Abbey twirled around.
"I'm going to kill those kids. When I get my hands on them, I'm going to
kill them," Jed muttered as he moved to the phone and ordered Air Force One
to be ready for flight the next morning.
"You're going to have to beat me to it."
"How about you get Jason. I get Ariel, and we can both kill Brennan?"
"Un unh. I want all of them. They are so dead." Abbey turned and Jed was
standing right behind her. Smacking his chest, she asked, "Why the hell did
you have to buy her that noise maker? I swear... they wouldn't get in to half
as much trouble if you weren't egging them on."
"Abbey..." Jed wrapped his arms tightly around her. "Calm down. The plane
isn't going to be ready until 5 am. So there is no point in getting excited
yet. Why don't we..." Jed grinned as he rubbed his hands up and down her back.
"Why don't we finish what we began before the phone rang...?"
