KD sighed and tried to look through the two dozen piles on her desk. Being
gone for three months had its toll, even if she did keep up with her work through
the wonderful world of electronics. Faxing, emailing, phone calls, all of that had
nothing to do with the thousands of papers that flooded through her office on a
daily basis. She'd seen most of the papers before; David had sent them to her. But
here were the real things, nothing else to do with them.

"David!!" She called.

"What?" He asked casually as he leaned his head in the door.

"How many trees died and were recycled to my office here?" She asked
sharply.

"Uh, I count at least twenty." He replied evenly.

"Go find a big box so I can start clearing this stuff to the recycling center,
nai?" She ordered. He nodded and got to his feet, disappearing down the hallway.
KD shook her head and bent down to pick up some of the papers that had fallen
off her desk. "Stupid briefs."

"Looks like you've got your hands full." A familiar voice exclaimed. KD
froze and stayed down for a moment. The last time she'd heard that voice, it was
on a tape that Toby had played for her. She thought her troubles with this person
was over. Hearing that tape had caused her to cry, but Toby held her in his arms
and told her that it was over, that no one could hurt them anymore. KD rose to her
feet and watched as Andrea Wyatt closed the door.

"You've got a lot of nerve coming here." KD declared evenly.

"I know, but I could say the same thing about you." Andy retorted.

"I've got nothing to say to you." KD said as she looked back at the papers.

"What, because you sent Toby to do your dirty work for you?" Andy
retorted as she sat down on KD's couch. "I want the tape."

"Talk to Toby." KD replied softly as she tried to concentrate on the papers.
Andy shook her head.

"Look at me." She ordered.

"I hardly think so." KD retorted.

"I want that tape."

"Talk to Toby."

"I'm talking to you."

"I noticed, but I hardly care."

"You think you can just come home and everything will be all right. I'm
telling you that it's not as easy as that. Like it or not, what you did was
irresponsible and hurtful and life will never be normal again." Andy said sharply.
KD looked at her with an eyebrow raised.

"Or so you would have me believe." She returned softly. "But the truth is
that no, things will not be the way they were before." She admitted. "They're going
to be better, and you're still going to be left alone. You didn't get what you want
and maybe you think that you can still intimidate me but the truth is that the only
reason you got to me that day was because I was insecure and I never took the
time to talk to Toby when I should have. I did make a mistake, but I won't do it
again."

"Somehow I doubt it. You're prone to mistakes." Andy retorted harshly. KD
chuckled weakly.

"Look who's talking. You threw him away. You can't have him back." She
replied softly. "Now get the hell out of my office. If you want the tape, or a copy of
it so you can listen to yourself make an ass of yourself, I suggest you go talk to
Toby." She added.

"I'm not leaving." Andy retorted.

"What could you possibly hope to prove by sitting here and annoying me?
I've got work to do. You've got work to do. It's all over, Andy. Over. I have nothing
to say to you and nothing you will say to me can make that change. I'm getting
married to Toby on Saturday. He invited you to come and watch, I believe. I would
prefer never to see your face again, but hey?" KD said with an absentminded
smirk. "Whatever Toby wants. In the meantime, I heartily suggest you get out of
my office before I lose my temper and am forced to kick your ass, and I assure
you, after going to medical school, the FBI academy and working to become a
very talented martial artist, if I did decide to kick your ass, it would truly hurt like
hell." She added in a tense growl. Andy stared at her in amazement.

"Are you threatening me?" She asked in disbelief.

"I'm warning you." KD replied sweetly. Just then the door opened and Toby
walked in. As soon as he saw Andy, he froze in his step and his face darkened.

"What the hell are you doing here?" He asked sharply.

"It's all right. She was just leaving." KD stated sharply. Toby glanced at his
fiancée and then back at his ex-wife. Andy stared at KD solidly, anger boiling in
her eyes. Suddenly she sighed and got to her feet.

"You two can go on living in your charade. In the meantime, nothing is ever
over." She said softly.

"Leave." Toby snapped. Andy stared at him for a few seocnds and then left,
closing the door behind her. KD let out a big sigh and ran her fingers through her
fingers.

"Promise me I can jump her and just really beat her with a stick." She
murmured. Toby moved over and took her in his arms. "I really don't like that
woman."

"She's really changed since I knew her. I don't know where all this is
coming from, but she can't hurt us. She's not going to come back, whether you
beat her with a stick or not." Toby whispered.

"But I really want to. Can I use your bat?" She asked as she buried her face
in his shoulder. Toby chuckled and held her tighter.

"Sure, why not?" He murmured before kissing her forehead. She nuzzled
his neck and nodded.

"Good."
