CJ arrived at the hospital. She got out of the D.C. police car and walked
into the hospital. She was met by one of her aides. They walked into an
empty office.

"The first matter is about Zoey. She was shot twice in the chest. One wound
in the lung the second was in the heart. She survived surgery and is in
ICU. The doctor is checking on her now. She will meet with you before
holding the press briefing," the aide reported.

"All right. Lets setup the briefing for a half hour from now" CJ ordered.
The aide wrote the order on her sheet.

"Next thing. The Secret Service has sent us the details on the suspect in
the shooting. It was a 17 year old male named Michael Scorpio. Here is a
brief bio of her," the aide handing CJ the file on her.

"Any motive yet?" CJ asked.

"They found pictures of Zoey all over the wall. He was a classmate of
hers. It sounds l like he was stalking her and decided to kill Zoey in
order to protect her from the evils of this world," the Aide said reading
the report.

"Have the information on him leaked. Lets see if we can prevent the
conspiracy rumor's." CJ ordered.

"Its already to late. There are many of them already on the Net," the Aide
said.

"And about the VP?" CJ asked.

"The cabinet was at the VPs residence for a meeting. It was a meeting of a
committee called the 25th. It is required to meet during times when the
President might have a problem. The meeting has ended," the Aide said.

"Thank you. I will meet wit the President on this before the briefing
start's." CJ says as she heads over to see the President. She finds him and
his family outside Zoey's suite. "Excuse me Mr. President. The President
looked up at her.

"I wanted to let you know that the doctor's will be holding a briefing
with the press in a half hour." CJ reported.

"I want her privacy respected as much as possible," the President ordered.

"Yes, sir." CJ announced.

The two of them walked into the suite. They saw Charlie sitting by Zoey's
bed holding on to her hand.

"He has been there ever since she was brought in," the President said.

They noticed CNN cutting away to the White House Press Room. They listened
to Bernie Shaw.

"We are expecting a statement from the Vice President in a few minutes. And
here he is now," Shaw said and the TV got a closeup of the VP.

"Ladies and gentlemen. I wanted to say that me and my family were outraged
by the cruel and violent acts done today and are pleased that the suspect
was placed under arrest. I also want to tell the President that we all are
there for him during this very hard and emotional time for him."

"My fellow Americans. One of the most important duties of myself and the
cabinet is our duties under the 25th Amendment. We believe that this must
be a very hard time for the President. So myself and the members of the
cabinet sent the following document to the Speaker of the House and
President Pro-Tempore of the Senate."

"We the undersigned believe that the Josiah Bartlet, President of the United
States, is suffering a temporary mental disability related to the shooting
of his daughter."

"Therefore under Section 4 of the twenty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution
of the United States, we declare that the President is unable to discharge
the powers of his office as President, and that the Vice President shall
assume the duties of Acting President."

The Vice President said finishing the statement, "About 10 minutes ago this statement was delivered to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President Pro-Tempore of the Senate. At
that moment I became the acting President."

The press room which was filled the second string reports began to shout
questions.

"There will be no questions. I ask all Americans to pray for Zoey
Bartlet's recovery. Thank you."

The Acting President quickly leaves. The President looks at CJ.
